A Special Gathering At NMU

For 48 years, the heartbeat of Lutheran Campus Ministry's life together has been a midweek student and community worship; a time for contemplative reflection and prayer. In recent years, this service has been built around the liturgy of Holden Evening Prayer. On Wednesday January, 25 at 7:00 p.m., we invite you to join us on campus at the University Center for a very special Gathering in honor of Pastor Jon Magnuson, complete with the Eucharist and special music. After worship, there will be a reception with reflections from former LCM Board members, alumni, student leaders, and friends. We are also looking for volunteer musicians. Messiah Lutheran Church

The community is invited to Messiah Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 29 to a celebration of Northern Michigan University's Lutheran Campus Ministry, ELCA, forty-eight years of ministry on NMU’s campus. On this night, Jon Magnuson, campus pastor, will retire and be honored for his sixteen years serving as the campus pastor and 38 years in the ministry. The community will celebrate the ministry’s milestones, accomplishments and the impact it has made on the faith life of young adults throughout its history at NMU. A soup supper will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by an evening of prayer, song and fellowship in celebration of Pastor Magnuson’s contributions to the ministry since his call began in 1995. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, March, 9 through Wednesday, March 30th join us midweek as we gather around the fireplace and hear people from the community sharing their stepping stones, slips, views, and lessons during their personal faith journeys.
